TRANSPORTATION 2020. SUMMARIES OF THE ARIZONA PUBLIC FORUM & PUBLIC SURVEY RESULTS. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Summarizations were made of the "Transportation 2020" Public Forum and survey conducted by the Arizona Department of Transportation and Arizona Highway Users Conference. This report presents the major conclusions of these summarizations. It was noted that transportation financing should continue at the federal and state levels and all diversions of trust funds should be stopped. Other observations regarding the following were also made: traffic congestion; highway capacity; private enterprise; travel demand; transportation improvements; transportation's ability to foster economic development; air pollution; and the inadequacy of public transportation. The fields considered in the study included the following: transportation business; private business; interest groups; municipal, state, county officials; transit/rail; and others.
