WORLD SEABORNE TRADE IN LPG

The transportation of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) requires specially designed vessels capable of containing gases liquefied under pressure. With increasing world-wide concern over energy availability and the quality of the environment, the demand for LPG can be expected to increasingly reflect LPG's good quality and high calorific value. On the supply side, the availability of LPG from the crude oil refining process is being extended with the increasing extraction of LPG from gas produced in association with crude oil. The study analyses the historical uses and sources of LPG on a regional basis and projects future supply and demand. From this, a forecast of LPG tanker demand and supply is made. The study also looks at the ownership structure of the LPG fleet, the potential shape of the charter market in the future and the historical trading patterns of the LPG fleet.
