SHIP VIBRATION MEASUREMENT AND ANALYSIS BY DATA ACQUISITION AND PROCESSING SYSTEM
This report describes a data acquisition and processing system for ship vibration, principally concerning simultaneous measurement at about 60 different points, automatic data processing, and improvement of synthetic accuracy. In this system, the outputs of an electrodynamic vibration pick-up (velocity type) are converted into digital form and recorded on magnetic tape, and computer results are plotted by a digital plotter. Through a systematic vibration test on an actual ship, we investigate vibration characteristics on newly built ships and apply the data to initial design. The casing wall vibration, plus existence of a new mode of longitudinal vibration of the main hull and so forth were clarified by the test.
