THE INFLUENCE OF FLY ASH ON OBTAINING QUALITY PLASTIC AND HARDENED PROPERTIES OF PROPERTIES OF PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE. FINAL REPORT
A study is reported which determined and defined the significant variables of fly ash which affect the quality of fly ash concrete for all available New Hampshire sources. It established limits on the significant variables such that quality fly ash concrete can be routinely produced. It also developed specifications for the use of fly ash as an additive of concrete which will assure the production of quality fly ash concrete, without discrimination of its use as an alternate means of obtaining quality concrete as presently specified in the New Hampshire Department of Transportation Highways Specifications. The research program is outlined, and the details are described of the fly ash specification, fly ash samples, chemical properties, and physical properties. Details of the fly ash concrete is given, and the statistical analysis is described. The conclusions drawn from the study are presented, and recommendations are made.
