THE NATION'S PUBLIC WORKS: EXECUTIVE SUMMARIES OF NINE STUDIES
A study is reported in which the National Council on Public Works Improvement examined in detail several major categories of public works: (1) roads, streets, highways and bridges; (2) airports and airways; (3) mass transit; (4) intermodal aspects of transportation; (5) water projects (ports, waterways, dams, facililties for irrigation and flood control, etc); (6) water supply; (7) waste water treatment; (8) hazardous waste management. These studies are summarized in this report. The themes and recommendations that emerged from the studies are highlighted.
