NATIONAL COMMISSION AGAINST DRUNK DRIVING. PROGRESS REPORT ON RECOMMENDATIONS PROPOSED BY THE PRESIDENTIAL COMMISSION ON DRUNK DRIVING
This publication presents a chart followed by a report on the subject of drunk driving with reference to attitudes and laws, the new approach by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in estimating the blood alcohol levels of drivers in fatal accidents, and the issue of recidivism. The question of safety checkpoints, arrests and penalties is also addressed. The approach to increasing awareness and education in the problem is discussed. The use of intervention messages by prominent sports figures, etc, and other advocates of safety are noted. The chart that is presented reflects existing laws and programs including legislation enacted with future effective dates.
