TRANSPORTATION INVESTMENT AND PRICING PRINCIPLES: AN INTRODUCTION FOR ENGINEERS, PLANNERS AND ECONOMISTS
After an introduction to the issues, the general framework for considering investment and pricing options is developed. Discussions of the importance of equilibrium, the economic benefits and costs of particular facilities or services, and methods for choosing among alternative projects are given. The financial considerations and multiobjective making are discussed. Finally, a discussion of some practical problems and innovative possibilities in pricing and investment are presented (tax pricing for highways, toll pricing, pricing for roadways, taxi fare setting, transit fare innovations).
