BUS PRIORITIES IN LONDON: SUMMARY OF FINAL REPORT

Purpose of this report was to assess the value of existing bus priorities and to suggest guidelines and policies for the future. The main types of bus priority are covered except those associated with town centre pedestrianisation/local access schemes. The main benefits from bus lanes arise from the protection of buses from traffic congestion resulting in savings in passenger time, more regular and reliable services and cost saving.
