SUMMARY RECORD OF THE SEMINAR ON MICRO-ELECTRONICS FOR ROAD AND TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT. 29TH OCTOBER TO 2ND NOVEMBER 1984

The National Police Agency of Japan and the OECD Road Transport Research Programme called for a seminar held in Tokyo on 29th October-2nd November 1984, to review present research and experience in member countries on the use of micro-electronics in road and traffic management. The present report is a summary record of the presentations and discussions of the seminar, and its main results and conclusions. The seminar was divided into six sessions: 1) presentations of the state-of-the-art in Japan in the field of practical application of micro-electronic technology; 2) road and traffic data management systems; 3) traffic control systems; 4) systems providing vehicle-road liaison (4.1 - driver information and communication systems and 4.2 - public transport communication and control systems); 5) policy concerns, objectives and needs; 6) conclusions.
