PASSENGERS AND PATRONAGE: AN ANALYSIS OF THE GREATER MANCHESTER PANEL SURVEY
This paper presents the initial results of an analysis of a "panel" survey in the metropolitan area of greater Manchester which was used to look at changes in bus use over the deregulation period. Section 2 of the paper provides a brief summary of the initial effects of deregulation in the metropolitan areas, with particular reference to the changes which have taken place in greater Manchester. Section 3 summarises the evidence regarding changes in bus use in the metropolitan areas. The results of the analysis of the greater Manchester panel survey are presented in section 4. Section 5 presents some concluding remarks. This paper was presented at utsg conference, university college London, January 1988. (TRRL)
