BRIDGES TO BS 5400. TABLES AND GRAPHS FOR SIMPLY SUPPORTED BEAM AND SLAB DESIGN
The object of this publication is to provide the bridge engineer with data to enable sizes of beams and slabs for simply supported bridges designed in accordance with BS5400, to be determined readily and economically. Graphs are provided which enable the engineer to obtain initial plate girder dimensions and concrete slab thicknesses to achieve the calculated moment capacity. For bridges using composite universal beams, tables of section properties and ultimate moment capacities are given so that a beam size, spacing and slab thickness can be determined to match the ultimate moment required.
