DETERMINING THE QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE CHANGES OF THE OCCURRENCE OF ACCIDENTS DUE TO GIVEN BUILDING SITE SITUATIONS FOR EXAMINING THE ECONOMICS OF ROAD SURFACES

The occurrence of accidents on stretches of motorway due to given building site situations was analyzed. The area of investigation extends to the actual site and to the adjacent free stretches before and after the site. Starting from explanations of previous investigations and the limitation of investigations, parameters for describing the occurrence of accidents, such as the density of accidents, rate of accidents and accident cost rates and also the measurement of accident, section and traffic data and the interconnection of data mentioned. The evaluation of site accidents is done statistically. Model equations were devloped and two different site situations are compared in a model calculation, in order to be able to make statements on the expected accident costs. It is found that the component of accident costs due to the site has a considerable part to play in investigations of economy.
