TRAINING IN TRAFFIC AT THE PRIMARY STAGE: SOCIAL COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS AND CONCEPT

Proposals were worked out for traffic training suitable for the requirements, which can act as a stimulus for concrete education plans. The traffic training is first shown as a support for social thinking and action and for theoretical perspectives (useful for traffic and accident research) in order to deal with the social cognitive requirements of safe traffic actions. The experimental plan explained subsequently, provides for investigations into rural, suburban and inner city living areas. A model-oriented analysis of official statistics on traffic accidents involving children follows, and also data on exposure to danger of and crossing strategies used by children in the above-mentioned living areas. Space concepts of children in their first and third year at school in difficult traffic situations are submitted and conclusions are drawn on traffic education in the primary stage.
