Three experimental sections were built in Belgium with a view to studying the different types of reinforcement (Bury-Barry), developing a concrete mix design for slip form pavers (Thulin), examining possibilities of using tie wire for reinforcement (Laneffe-Sumzee). The observations made on these experimental stretches were used to draft general specifications for continuous reinforced concrete motorways, and also for drafting a Vade-Mecum for project designers and construction site supervisors with a view to helping them to work under the most favourable conditions. ;TRRL;
