RURAL TRANSPORT SERVICES. A GUIDE TO THEIR PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION

This book considers the problem of providing maximum access to transport services and to roads for the rural population of the world's developing countries when the available funds are limited. The first part of the book focuses on the needs of policy makers, and the second on the needs of planners. The third part and its annexes focus on the needs of personnel involved in project preparation. Specific information related to complementary activities is referenced between parts. A rationale is offered for planning and implementing rural access infrastructure project components. Guidelines and procedures are suggested for identifying transport problems and their solutions, as an alternative to arbitrary preconceived standardized solutions.
