OPTIMUM DESIGN OF STRUCTURES
The main object of this book is to present a reasonably comprehensive account of the various established methods in mathematical programming in a manner acceptable to the engineer. Ideas are familiarised with the aid of simple examples which are solved numerically as well as graphically, and the various methods of mathematical optimisation are then used in the design of structures. The chapter headings are as follows:- 1 - an outline of existing design methods. 2 - mathematical optimisation. 3 - design of structures by matrix force method. 4 - design by matrix displacement method. 5 - further aspects of design. 6 - design of structures with variable topology. A bibliography and subject index are included. /TRRL/
