FINANCING OPTIONS. INTERNATIONAL ROAD FEDERATION PROCEEDINGS OF SYMPOSIUM ON MANAGEMENT OF ROAD EQUIPMENT.

This article states that although existing financing options meet almost all the needs at the time of the sale, there is room for improvement in satisfying after-sales needs. The article consists of 3 parts: review of needs for financing options; description of main financing options; and highlight of some unmet needs and examples of broader options. A rationale for a financing option is given and the following are reviewed: form of contract, and type of lender (advance payment by owner of the works; loan by a private or a public domestic bank; agreement upon deferred payment by the equipment supplier; credit by an export credit agency; credit/loan by a multilateral development institution; and cofinancing).
