USE OF GEOGRID PROPERTIES IN LIMIT EQUILIBRIUM ANALYSIS. POLYMER GRID REINFORCEMENT: PROCEEDINGS OF A CONFERENCE SPONSORED BY THE SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING RESEARCH COUNCIL AND NETLON LTD AND HELD IN LONDON 22-23 MARCH 1984

This paper provides guidance on the choice of soil, geogrid and soil-geogrid interaction properties that should be used in limit equilibrium analysis of geogrid reinforced soil structures. It suggests that as little experience exists for the evaluation of lumped factors of safety in design, partial factors of safety should be used. The material properties to which these partial factors should be applied and the reasoning for each of them is given. Finally, the difference between overall strains, and so deformations, at working conditions and those inherently assumed in limit equilibrium designs are discussed. For the covering abstract of the symposium see IRRD 284425. (Author/TRRL)
