CONTRIBUTION TO THE STUDY OF THE COHESION OF GRANULATED SLAG PASTE
CONTRIBUTION A L'ETUDE DE LA COHESION DES PATES DE LAITIER GRANULE
This thesis, carried out at the laboratoire central des ponts et chaussees, in connection with the research on granulated slag, deals with the problem of the stiffening of hydraulic binder pastes in an attempt to grasp the causes of the phenomenon. The first part describes a cristallographic study of the hydration products of granulated slag: chemical aspects of the setting of the granulated slag and bibliographic study of hydrates. The second part is concerned with the observations of the hydration of granulated slag by means of scanning microscope (preparation of samples, demonstration of crystalline binders), the study of the influence of the quantity of binding crystals on the strength of the paste, and the influence of the porosity and particle size distribution on the strength of granulated slag paste. /TRRL/
