EXPERIMENTS WITH EARTHQUAKE GROUND MOTION SIMULATION

This paper presents an assessment of the state-of-the-art in the use of centrifuge model testing for the study of problems in geotechnical earthquake engineering. It begins with a brief survey of developments in the area of equipment and instrumentation. Greater attention is given to lessons, concerning successes and difficulties in the art of testing, learned from actual test programmes. The proper role for this type of testing is discussed, and test programmes of particular value are suggested. The number of the covering abstract of the symposium is IRRD 286058. (TRRL)
