STATE GOVERNORS REQUEST NARUC TO DELAY ACTION ON MOTOR CARRIER AUTHORITIES

The National Governors' Association has asked the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners to hold off on adopting a plan to centralize state registration of interstate motor carrier operating authorities until a procedure can be developed that is compatible with the governors' approach. This step by NARUC is part of a proposal to centralize state administration of motor carrier standards under Public Law 89-170 based on a resolution approved by its executive committee last summer.
