THE DEVELOPMENT OF VEHICLE CONDITION MONITORING AND FAULT DIAGNOSIS EQUIPMENT FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLE FLEETS. PAPER C40/85
This paper reviews the maintenance costs of buses and describes how a vehicle manufacturer is exploiting the latest technology to ensure that future vehicles minimise these costs by incorporating a comprehensive fault diagnosis and condition monitoring (fdcm) system. The development of an fdcm system which is on trial with two UK bus operators is discussed along with the opportunities for providing self-test facilities in the next generation of electronic control equipment to appear in vehicles.
