RESEARCH ON PLANNING, ORGANIZATIONS AND DECISION-MAKING: AN ESSENTIAL COMPONENT OF A TRANSPORTATION RESEARCH PROGRAM

This article discusses the paper by Wachs, M (see IRRD 287438) and points out the areas where Wachs failed to address several issues about the internal functioning of transportation carriers of both passengers and freight, and industrial logistics activities. Research in this direction is discussed under the topics of: (1) increasing organization effectiveness through planned change and (2) strategy studies. (TRRL)
