STUDY FOR ICICLE PREVENTION BY ADIABATIC TREATMENT IN RAILWAY TUNNEL
The prevention of icicle and side ice in railway tunnels is a new and old subject. Recently, an icicle prevention by adiabatic treatment of tunnel lining has been developed and has been adopted in many railway tunnels. This paper summarizes analyses of the icicle/frost damage in tunnels, those of icicle prevention by adiabatic treatment of an old tunnel, those of a newly constructed tunnel, and a suggestion about the availability and designing of this prevention.
