TESTING AND ADJUSTING REGIONAL TRAVEL SIMULATION MODELS WITH 1980 CENSUS DATA

This article discusses the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) travel forecasting models which displayed the ability to simulate 1980 non-work trips. The major model adjustments that were required are noted. This article reviews the literature on the subject, and discusses the problems in forecasting methodology. Travel forecasting model validation, and the procedure used to update the DVRPC travel simulation models are described.
