OPTIMAL CROSS-COUNTRY SHIPMENT OF PERISHABLE COMMODITIES: AN ECONOMIC APPROACH
The purpose of this paper is to predict the shelf-life of lettuce due to temperature management during transport from California to Georgia. The economic feasibility of investments to increase shelf-life are examined. A shelf-life model is specified and related to the price at which the commodity is sold.
