SPEED PROFILES IN STREETS WITH SPEED REDUCING MEASURES

HET SNELHEIDSVERLOOP TUSSEN SNELHEIDSBEPERKENDE VERKEERSVOORZIENINGEN IN WOONGEBIEDEN

Speed profiles have been measured for test persons, driving in their own cars, with starting and finishing speeds varying between 0 and 40 km/h and distances varying from 20 to 100 m. Relationships for speed profile parameters (location and value of the highest spot-speed and journey-speed) with 'hump'-speed and 'hump'-distance have been developed in order to optimize design and measurement. The speed-time-profile could be approached with a trapezium. For equal 'hump'-speed the highest speed can be measured at 0.6 times the hump distance behind the first hump.
