DADE COUNTY ALWAYS AHEAD OF EQUIPMENT PROBLEMS
The article describes Metro Dade County, Florida's innovative, central/satellite equipment maintenance facility system which maximizes equipment uptime while reducing expenditures. Among the innovations are roving mobile lube trucks which conduct preventive maintenance testing on heavy construction equipment in the field, and a fleet management software program that is so versatile it is being marketed to other counties. Preventive maintenance is considered the most important function. Machnine shops have been modernized and can manufacture parts for equipment that is obsolete. The Metro Dade County Equipment Management System provides a state-of-the-art fleet management service.
