PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE SYSTEMS IN DENMARK

Since the beginning of the 1970's a great deal of effort has been put into a systematic approach to pavement management in Denmark. This has led to a fully operational technico-economic pavement management system. The maintenance system is based on: road standards, a road data bank, administrative procedures and a priority model. In 1983, it was decided to review the system; main specifications for a new system were approved, and the development of the new system is now under way. This paper describes the present Danish pavement management system for the main road network and outlines the on-going research and development towards a complete pavement management system.
