THE TEXACO ROAD FLYOVER

The paper is concerned with the design and construction of a flyover scheme in Hong Kong. Particular mention is made of the way the design was developed to suit the local surroundings. Careful attention was paid to horizontal and vertical highway curvature in relation to the visual form of the structures. Details are given of structural design, prestress analysis, foundations, abutments, support frame construction, construction of the deck, centre span construction, construction of other structures (elevated slip-road structure, stairway and curved pedestrian ramp leading to the central flyover), temperature measurement experiment, lighting, and landscape works.
