ATA ASKS FOR FHWA RULE TO END RESTRICTIONS ON LARGE-TRUCK ACCESS
The American Trucking Association has called on the Federal Highway Administration to guarantee commercial motor vehicle access to terminals for repairs, fuel, rest and food. It is pointed out that there is today, a patchwork of state restrictions on where big trucks can deliver or pick up freight. The ATA thus joins the National Industrial Transportation League in asking the government for statewide uniformity in trucks' rights to deliver freight to places of business. FHWA is being urged to begin a rulemaking proceeding.
