QUALITY ASSURANCE WITH READY MIXED CONCRETE

The organization "Quality Scheme for Ready Mixed Concrete" (QSEMC) was formed in 1984 to replace the BRMCA authorisation scheme and the BACMI code. The QSRMC scheme provides accreditation of plants involved in the production, control and supply of ready mixed concrete throughout the United Kingdom, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. The QSRMC scheme: (1) defines technical requirements for the quality systems to be operated by member companies in accordance with BS 5750: quality systems and BS 5328: methods for specifying concrete including ready mixed concrete (2) provides independent assessments of plants and their associated quality records by qualified specialists in concrete production, control and technology (3) issues certificates of accreditation of plants and their associated quality records (4) assures, by continuing surveillance, that the standards of the scheme are being maintained (5) provides information to the construction industry on the current status of registered plants.
