ROAD PAVING IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS

WEGVERHARDING IN WOONGEBIEDEN

The freedom of choice of colour for road paving is almost unlimited. There are no national or international specifications, but over the years certain colours have acquired certain meanings; yellow for no parking along the kerbside, blue for parking zones, orange for a temporary carriageway marking during road maintenance, green for reflectors on obstacles which may be overtaken on both sides, red and white for obstacles which may be overtaken on the left or the right side respectively, and black/white for bus stops, pedestrian crossings etc. By the use of certain colour or of varying materials in the road surface much can be done to give information to the road user.
