A PANEL ANALYSIS OF CHANGES IN CAR OWNERSHIP AND BUS USE
This paper analyses changes in travel patterns, especially bus use, in South Yorkshire, England between 1981 and 1984, as part of a final assessment of the cheap fare policy which was initiated in 1975-6, and abandoned with the abolition of the County Council in 1986. The results are presented of the survey of over 4,000 people in 1981 and over 8,000 people in 1984. The findings are discussed and the conclusions drawn from them are listed.
