MONETARY EVALUATION OF DRIVING COMFORT
MONETAR VARDERING AV AKKOMFORT
For the determination of a road section's needs of maintenance and repaving there have so far been no facts about the costs that reduced driving comfort causes. The costs can be direct, in that the drivers make a detour instead of driving on a poor road, or indirect in that they are ready to make a detour if there were one. The drivers' readiness to drive a longer, better, road in order to avoid a shorter but poorer road has been investigated using different kinds of interviews. The drivers' evaluation of road evenness and costs caused by increasing unevenness have been quantified in monetary terms. (TRRL)
