FLOATING TRAFFIC CONTROL FOR A FLEXIBLE SERVICE
In this paper we propose a new concept named "Floating Traffic Control" to improve service to passengers, where the operation schedule is controlled adaptively corresponding with demands of passengers. As the most suitable system for such control is an intra-city railway, we developed a theoretical traffic model representing the dynamics of intra-city railways under the floating traffic control. Further we proposed practical control methods for actual line and evaluated the effect of the control through simulation. (Author abstract)
