TEST BENCH FOR CHIP AND PRECOATED CHIP SPREADERS: PERFORMANCES AND PROSPECTS OF IMPROVEMENT OF EQUIPMENT
PERFORMANCES ET PERSPECTIVES D'AMELIORATION DES MATERIELS
Surface dressings improve safety on wet road surfaces. Changes in bituminous techniques aimed at reducing consumption of energy, bitumen and aggregates have given fresh impetus to this technique of pavement maintenance. Parallel with this, the technique of precoated chipping has recently become more widespread. Existing chip spreaders and precoated chip spreaders are described, together with their performance characteristics. A test bench for chip spreaders and precoated chip spreaders was built in 1984 at the Roadmaking Equipment Test Station in Blois to assist in improving these items of equipment.
