AASHTO BAMS CONFERENCE HELD IN FLORIDA
The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and the Florida Department of Transportation sponsored the second annual BAMS (Bid Analysis and Management System) conference in March 1986. BAMS is a state-of-the-art construction contract management system purchased by AASHTO from Info Tech, Incorporated in 1985 for distribution to State Highway Agencies. The conference featured 9 sessions at which 33 papers were presented on topics which included estimation technology, bid review and contract analysis, contract administration, the role of microcomputers in the partial payments process, and future BAMS enhancements. This article states the mission of the BAMS task force, and how AASHTO hopes to evolve a state-of-the-art Transportation Management Information System with the BAMS PLUS System. The four modules that currently constitute the BAMS PLUS System are noted.
