NEGLECTED CHALLENGE IN METROPOLITAN AREA TRANSPORTATION
This paper points up a critical neglected area in both thinking and action in devising public transit responses to the types of metropolitan areas that are evolving throughout the world. While all of the world's metropolitan areas have growing areas of high density settlement and commercial activity, the growth in the medium and low density parts of such complexes is occurring at a faster rate. This fact has drastically changed the public transportation challenge.
