HYGIENE IN THE METRO
The Paris City Health Laboratory has been responsible for carrying out sanitary inspections of installations in the Metro since the beginning of the century. In 1982, a convention between the City and the RATP (Paris Transport Authority) has enabled phenomena having an effect on the quality of the air in the underground sections of the Metro. Stock has now been taken of progress after three years of application. It underlines the importance of ventilation and cleaning. Close collaboration between the health specialists making the checks and the RATP should ensure that the standard of hygiene in the Metro is even higher in the future.
