TURNOUTS LAID ON A PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BASE
The technique of laying rails on a concrete support has been perfected over a period of more than 20 years and the advantages obtained as regards track stability and maintenance have led to research being carried out on the laying of points and crossings on concrete sleepers. The technical problems connected with points and crossings have been resolved and two prototype sets of points designed by the SNCF Equipment Department for laying on concrete sleepers were assembled and placed in position on main-line tracks in 1984.
