SPECIFICATION FOR THE MODEL 6800R PAVEMENT SLIP FRICTION TESTER FOR RUNWAYS

The specifications are described for the Model 6800 Slip Friction Tester, an automatically controlled runway friction testing system designed to meet all of the performance requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration "Performance of Specifications for Friction Measuring Devices." Using the M1270 Two Axis Wheel Force Transducer, it will accurately perform dry or self-wetted slip friction testing, as needed by airport operators to determine minimum standard pavement slip friction coefficients, along with rain, ice and snow friction testing. The system, which will be capable of testing between speeds of 20 and 70 mph, consists of a front wheel drive mini-van with the test wheel assembly driven at 13% slip speed through a rear axle transmission system, with all necessary instrumentation and auxillary equipment for these tests.
