ROAD SAFETY RESEARCH IN EGYPT

This paper describes the practical outcome of collaborative research to road safety problems in Egypt. The research program was established in 1980 between the Egyptian Ministries of Interior and Transport, and the overseas unit of TRRL, UK. Initial tasks described in this paper comprise: a) the design and development of an accident report booklet for the police; b) the storage and analysis of accident data (from the booklet and other sources) by microcomputer; and c) the evaluation of low cost remedial measures, initially on the major rural (inter-city) highways.
