THE GEOTECHNICS OF REAL MATERIALS: THE EG, EK METHOD
This book is in two parts. Part 1 (chapters 1-6) deals with a number of geotechnical topics relevant to the use or understanding of the method based on the strains caused by shear stress and by volumetric stress. In part 2 the basic parameters of these stresses are defined and details are given of their measurement in the laboratory. The use of the parameters for the solution of various problems is described, including the correction factors which may be applied to allow for variations in conditions such as dimensions, drainage boundaries, stress system and loading rates. The validity of the method (supplemented where necessary by simple diffusion data) is demonstrated by a number of examples and case histories. (TRRL)
