RESULTS FROM THE BROUGHTON AXLE WEIGHT SURVEY (1984) ON THE A2 IN KENT

In September 1984 a random sample of 1059 goods vehicles (3.5 tonne gvw or greater) was taken at boughton on the a2 in Kent. Each vehicle was weighed and measured. This report summarises the data collected and assesses the extent and effects of overloading. During the survey it was found that 12% of the vehicles were overloaded. Although those vehicles contributed 48% of the road damage, the removal of the excess weight would only have 'saved' some 8% of the damage. (TRRL)
