The file: fond 72 is specially designed for studies of highway and motorway engineering structures, but most data included can be extended to foundations in general. In the field of engineering structures, two cases are considered: standard foundations and special foundations. This file will be used as a reference file by the "laboratoires des ponts et chaussees" in their dealings with site managers or their representatives. The file is divided into 7 volumes. Volume 1 describes the aim of the file, volume 2 site investigation, volume 3 methods of soil investigation, volume 4 design and selection of foundation type, volume 5 calculation, volume 6 gives an example of completed work with details of the preliminary project of one structure together with the geotechnical study, volume 7 presents observations. /TRRL/
