STATE-OF-THE-PRACTICE RETRO-REFLECTIVE MEASUREMENT DEVICES FOR PAVEMENT MARKINGS. FINAL REPORT
The project was conducted to identify the current useage and availability of instruments used for making retro-reflective measurement of pavement markings, as well as associated standards and causes of retro-reflection from pavement markings. Tests of existing instruments were evaluated. Equipment designs were compared. Several instruments make accurate repeatable measurements of pavement markings. The nomenclature and formulae used in the identification of the parameters of retro-reflection and measurement are not standardized: descriptive terms are proposed.
