NEW MATERIALS FOR HIGHWAY PAVEMENTS: DESIGN MODELS AND TEST DATA. FINAL REPORT, PARTS I&II
A research project was undertaken to analytically define the material properties of existing and new, alternative pavement materials and develop preliminary design models to select a long-lived, cost-effective pavement through the following steps: identify relevant structural properties of materials; determine these properties both from literature and by tests; develop predictive design models for service and distresses; develop material selection criteria including life-cycle cost consideration; develop brief guidelines for construction; and demonstrate the workability of the models by real world data. Tests in Part II were performed by Resource International, Inc., as a subcontractor.
