THE EFFECTS OF THE TOTAL RENEWAL OF FINNISH ROAD TRAFFIC LAW
TIELIIKENNELAIN KOKONAISUUDISTUKSEN VAIKUTUKSET
The total renewal of Finnish road traffic law came into force on April 1st, 1982. The effects of this renewal were investigated by studying people's knowledge of traffic regulations, traffic behaviour, the characteristics of traffic flow and accidents. Studies took place before the renewal, immediately after it and up to two years afterwards. The methods were interviews, surveys, behaviour observations, traffic measurements and analysis of statistics. The renewal and the means of making it known through media were treated as a traffic safety campaign. (TRRL)
