PROJECT MANAGEMENT FOR DREDGING OPERATIONS
It is the author's opinion that dredging companies should use the project management approach to eliminate ever increasing problems of over running the budget on contract projects. Project management is a concept that includes specific approaches to the control of time, money, and technical performance. Each project requires a project manager to direct the operation and delegate resources to the various components of the project. Also involved in this system is the efficient use of computers to aid in the management of multiple events or activities in a program or series of concurrent projects. Multi-project management problems within a company are touched on briefly. It is concluded that the role of a project management system is the continuous evaluation of progress as compared to planned objectives.
